Under Australia's Do Not Call Legislation 2006, it is now illegal to call a consumer to sell them something, if their number is listed on the Do Not Call Register. The fines are up to a million dollars. Politicians, religious groups, charities, and legitimate research companies are exempt.

Note that home-based businesses may also register their numbers on the DNCR if their telephone number is used mainly for personal use. But businesses CANNOT register their business phone numbers. However many businesses have been registering their numbers, so we also advise washing business numbers as well.

In order to comply with the law, the government's ACMA (Australian Media & Communications Authority) has set up the Do Not Call Register for companies to 'wash' or screen their data against the DNCR so they do not call people on the register.

It's a fairly simple process of uploading a properly formatted spreadsheet, however we realise some clients don't have the time nor the inclination to do this.

Please note that telemarketing lists we purchase for you will need washing against the DNCR. In some cases the list owner may do this (and charge more) or we can do the washing for you. We will advise you at the time of what options we can take for you.

This includes formatting your sheet, washing, plus returning the washed spreadsheet to you with records clearly flagged.
